What Does This Mean?
Odyssey House Louisiana Community Health Center receives HHS funding and has federal Public Health Service deemed status with respect to certain health or health-related claims, including medical malpractice claims, for itself and its covered individuals.
This Health Center is a Health Center Program grantee under 42 U.S.C. 254(b) and is a deemed Public Health Service employee under 42 U.S.C. 223(h).

The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) provides Quality Improvement Awards (QIA) to promote optimization of overall quality, efficiency, and value of the health care services provided by the nation’s health centers. These awards recognize the highest performing health centers nationwide as well as those health centers that have made significant quality improvement gains from the previous year. Odyssey House Louisiana's CHC was recognized by the HRSA as a 2024 Health Disparities Reducer. OHL was awarded a certificate of achievement in recognition of our work in reducing health inequities in underserved communities.
A Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) is a reimbursement designation from the Bureau of Primary Health Center and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services of the United States Department of Health and Human Services. Key characteristics of FQHC's are: Not-for-Profit Provide a comprehensive scope of services Located in or serve a high need community Govern with community involvement Treat patients regardless of ability to pay
